The Beatitudes are “blessings” or wonderful news at the heart of Jesus' preaching.
They respond to the desire for deep joy that God has placed in the human heart.
In our world today, wouldn’t it be nice to know your true happiness is not dependent on putting on a smile, smooth sailing, trying really hard, or keeping the peace at any price? If “blessed” means “happy”, what was Jesus getting at when He said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” or “blessed are those who hunger and thirst”? Can we possess true and lasting happiness?
Join us if you can this Sunday at 10 am and explore how these words of Jesus are Good News for us today.
