Romans 8: 26-27

...the Spirit helps us in our weakness;

For we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs (groans) too deep for words.

And God, who searches the heart,

knows what is the mind of the Spirit,

because the Spirit intercedes for the saints

according to the will of God.

Psalm 127 – Psalms for Praying, Nan C. Merrill

Unless You, O Divine Creator, build the house,

those who build it labour in vain.

Unless You watch over the city,

the watchers stay awake in vain.

For it is in co-operating with You

from morn to evening,

Eating the bread of your Word,

that we rest in peace throughout the night.

Reverence the sacred gift of life that nourishes all.

Who will grow in wisdom,

abandoning themselves into the chalice of Love?

Who will open themselves

to the imprint of Love’s gifts upon their heart?

Unless You, O Divine Spirit,

make your home within us, we wander through life in vain

Prayers - Philip Newell Praying with the Earth

To the home of peace, to the field of love,

 to the land where forgiveness and right relationships meet,

we look, O Holy One,

with longing for earth’s children,

with compassion for the creatures, with hearts breaking

for the nations and people we love.

Open us to visions we have never known;

strengthen us for self-givings we have never made;

delight us with a oneness we could never have imagined,

 that we may truly be born of You, makers of peace.
