Thursday, September 30th:
Orange Shirt Day 2021,
and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
As we approach the day, I wonder what you might be planning to do to recognize this day and take another small step on the Truth and Reconciliation path.
Maybe you will read an article or part of a book. Perhaps you’ll learn more about the First Nation/s who lived/live in your area through exploring the sight and sound of their language, perhaps the names of some of the Coast Salish Peoples such as the: q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katze pronounced kat-zee ), Qw'? ntl'en (Kwantlen pronounced kwant-len ), kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem prounounced kwee-kwet-lum) , Sto:lo (pronounced staw-low), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh pronounced sail-wha-tooth), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish pronounced squa-mish) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam pronounced mus-kwee-um).
Perhaps you will spend some time in prayer.
Whatever you decide, may the Love and Peace of Christ that goes beyond our human understanding be with you and guide you always.
