Being a human being on the planet is not easy right now. Our world is in trauma, and many - if not most of us - are feeling it deeply.  And yet...this is not the last word! God has future of healing and peace and love in mind...for all. What we have known, learned, and experienced of Jesus is needed now more than ever.

Throughout this season we will recognize that the world we live in now is similar to the world into which Jesus was born and through which his teachings and his presence would challenge and call for transformation.

We will be grounded each week by the opening words of an anonymous Jewish poet, “I believe in the sun, even when the sun is not shining,” calling us to grace, transformation and reconciliation through hope, love, joy, and peace.

This Advent and Christmas, let us fill the night with music and light and affirm and act on the reasons why we can still “believe, even when” we are discouraged.
