Offering Our Gifts
The Sacrament of Communion
The Lord be with you! And also with you!
Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to the Holy One.
It is good to give our thanks and praise.
We give thanks,
Creator of Light, Giver of Life, Source of Love: that You breathe your Life into us,
guiding and empowering us to live in loving relationship
with You, ourselves, our neighbour and all of your creation.
When we turn away from You,
You call us back again and again,
reminding us who we are and Whose we are.
And so with your people of all times and places, we sing Your praise:
You are Holy, You Are Whole (by Per Harling)
Mighty and Tender God,
in Jesus of Nazareth we recognize the fullness of Your grace:
Light, Life and Love revealed
in words that confront and comfort us,
in teachings that guide and challenge us,
in compassion that heals and frees us.
We remember that on the night he was betrayed,
Jesus took bread, and after blessing it,
He broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take this, all of you, and eat.
This is my body, given for you.
Each time you do this, remember me.
In the same way Jesus took the cup, saying,
Take this, all of you, and drink from it.
This is the new covenant promise of God in my lifeblood.
Whenever you do this, remember me.”
Creator and Author of Life, whenever we eat this bread and drink this cup,
we re-center our lives in Your loving purpose for us
and for your world and we proclaim the mystery of our faith:
Christ has died. Christ has risen! Christ will come again!
We pray, God of Love,
send Your Holy Spirit upon us
and on what we do here.
that we, and these gifts, touched by your Spirit,
will be empowering signs of life and love
to each other and to your world.
And let Your Love and Grace flow to those in need of Your good news,
healing, guidance, and freedom… We pray together Jesus’ prayer:
“Our Father.... Amen.” (VU#921)
Breaking the Bread and Pouring the Cup
These are the gifts of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God!
Partaking of the Bread… The ushers will direct in-person to receive the ashes and then to partake of the Communion Bread.
MV#194 Bread of Life, Feed My Soul - MV#202 Bread for the Journey
Prayer (after Communion)
Loving God,
may we, who share Christ’s body,
live his risen life;
we, who drink his cup,
bring new life to others;
we, whom the Holy Spirit lights,
give light to the world. Amen.
*Concluding Hymn: VU#468 Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ
