Children and Youth

Sunday School

A warm & inviting welcome to all children and parents at Como Lake United!

Sunday School

10:00am to 11:00am - - The theme for this fall is is "Heroes of the Old Testament". Come and explore stories of important people of faith such as Hannah, Samuel, King David, Solomon, etc. Each Sunday will begin with worship in the Sanctuary, followed by learning activities in Room #120.

On the first Sunday of the month, children, youth and leaders will return to the Sanctuary to participate in Communion with the congregation and then return to Room #120 for snacks and closing.

Our purpose and approach in the Children and Youth Ministry is:

a) to nurture, teach and model love and respect for God, self, others, and all of Creation

b) to sow and grow seeds of faith by exploring, engaging, interacting, learning and practicing our faith through Bible-based stories, prayer, songs, art, movement and play.

Children’s Choir

Angelic voices, ages 6 to 8, meet Wednesday from 6:00 to 6:45 pm. This program consists of basic music lessons and singing fun songs. Participants will get a CD with all the songs for the year. We are also planning to do some music theory this year. Professional acting and dancing instruction will also be provided throughout the year.

The Youth Choir for those 9 to 14 years old meets Wednesdays from 5:00 to 5:45 pm.. This program will be different. The first part of the class will consist of music theory and conducting. After that we are going to do some more challenging singing in two part harmony. You will learn how easy it is to sing parts once you know the technique.

The children's choir programs are open to boys and girls from our church as well as from the broader community.

For more information on the Children's Choir, please contact Lena Kovalik through the church office.
