Faith Friends - Children’s Ministry at Como Lake United Church
The children’s ministry at Como Lake United nurtures, teaches and models love and respect for God, self, others, and all of Creation. We sow and grow seeds of faith by exploring, engaging, interacting, learning and practicing our faith through Bible-based stories, prayer, songs, art, movement and play.
10:00am to 11:00am - Each Sunday will begin with worship in the Sanctuary, followed by learning activities in Room #120. Throughout the Fall until the beginning of Advent, our children and youth will be hearing the stories of Abraham and Lot, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob & Esau, and Joseph and his brothers and Joseph’s time in Egypt. These stories will explore the themes of peace, kindness, trust, honesty, patience and forgiveness while illustrating to the children and youth that God is forgiving and he loves them and is with them all the time.
On certain Sundays there will be a guest story-teller, sharing the story in Godly Play style. On these days, some adults will be invited to join with the children in the story and response faith activities.
On the first Sunday of the month, children, youth and leaders will return to the Sanctuary to participate in Communion with the congregation and then return to Room #120 for snacks and closing. Our purpose and approach in the Children and Youth Ministry is: a) to nurture, teach and model love and respect for God, self, others, and all of Creation and b) to sow and grow seeds of faith by exploring, engaging, interacting, learning and practicing our faith through Bible-based stories, prayer, songs, art, movement and play.
Children/Youth Choir
Faith Singers - Ages 8 to 12 - Nurturing children and youth into a loving and trusting relationship with God, with themselves and with others, through music, song and self-expression.Our weekly worship meeting consists of lighting the Christ candle to remind us of in whom's name we are meeting, centering prayer, sharing, Bible discussions and singing praise songs.
